MAGAZINE: LED attributes for accurate modeling: An optical designer's wish list

Design software provides much of the data needed for designing LED systems, but LED manufacturers should provide more detail to ease the designer's job, says PATRICK LE HOUILLIER and MIKE ZOLLERS. When using software to designan optical system with LEDs, many LED characteristics mustbe considered to Manufacturers provide muchof this information in their datasheets.Additionally, many manufacturers providemeasured data in the form of ray data setsfor their products. As designers, we laudthe industry for this increased openness, but there is room to improve the level We examine four such LED detailsthat may need to be modeled in an opticaldesign, explain why and under what conditionsthese details are necessary, and proposeways to supply the requisite data. This is not a comprehensive list of details neededfor every LED Design, but a subset of significantinformation barriers that designershave faced ov Er the years.
Attribute 1: Near-field light distribution
One detail that is consistently omitted when modeling LED systems is the accurate representation of the LED's near-field light distribution (for example, at a distances less thanroughly 10 times the size of the source). Ofcourse, some optical designs, such as tasklighting, can be A model light is often simply an LED shining onto a flat surface. There are no obstructions between the source andits distant target; therefore, the near-fieldlight distribution need not be considered for this scenario. If a lens is placed in front of the LED that focuses the die onto the same surface, the near-field light distribution must be considered. The spatial variation of the source emittance due to diemasks, wires, phosphors, etc. is all imagedonto the target.

Replacement Bulb Lamp With Housing

Replacement Projector Lamp with housing has one more case than the bare bulb lamp, which can be directly put into the projector and more convenient than the installation of the bare bulblamp. The projection effect is the same as the compatible projector lamp, with stable light source and brightness, which can support daily life use
