Leading LED chip developer SemiLEDs has announced the introduction of the P5 UV LED, a high-power 5W 365nm UVLED, which is considered a major advancement by SemiLEDs, so the company has become the industry. The only chip supplier that produces high power 365nm UV LEDs.

SemiLED's P5 UVLED uses its original patented vertical metal-based MvpLEDTM chip, a technology that encapsulates copper alloy and UV glass together in silicon, compared to substrates currently used commercially, such as sapphire. For silicon, germanium, gallium nitride, and silicon carbide, the metal base layer of MvpLED has a relatively high thermal conductivity, indicating a more heat dissipation capability. This ability will play a decisive role in optimizing the life of the UVLED. In addition, SemiLED's 365nm P5 UVLED also has excellent thermal management performance, excellent light efficiency, and higher drive current to maximize optical density. The LED uses a very small physical SMT size, with a P5 output of 5W at 1.5A drive current, making it ideal for applications like polymer curing.
