Beijing, April 17, 2013- Content Electronics Technology (Marvell, NASDAQ: MRVL), the global leader in integrated chip solutions, today announced that Samsung Electronics ’new LED retrofit bulb series will use the Marvell® 88EM8183 depth Dimming single-stage AC / DC LED driver integrated circuit (IC). The 88EM8183 LED driver IC released in February 2012 provides the industry's widest range of wall dimmer compatibility, requires the fewest components in the industry, and supports multiple world lighting standards, making it the preferred solution for global OEMs. Samsung's new products based on Marvell solutions will start retailing next month, including A19, raised reflector (BR) and parabolic aluminum-plated reflective (PAR) bulbs.

The highly integrated 88EM8183 LED driver IC is designed for deep dimming that can smoothly adjust LED currents as low as 1%. Compared with similar LED driver solutions that can only achieve 10% to 20% dimming, performance is significantly improved. 88EM8183 IC is compatible with many different types of (TRIAC) wall dimmers from different manufacturers around the world. 88EM8183 LED driver IC architecture can achieve high integration, greatly reducing the bill of materials (BOM). The number of components required for the LED driver has been reduced by more than half, which greatly reduces the required circuit board area. Therefore, it can help OEM manufacturers and ODM manufacturers to launch LED lights of various sizes, such as A19, PAR, and BR. It will damage the dimming performance.
Marvell 88EM8183 product features
Marvell's 88EM8183 IC is designed to:
• Adopts advanced dimming control algorithm, which meets the requirements of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association SSL 6 (NEMA SSL 6) dimming standard.
• Adopts Marvell's unique primary current control method, which does not require an optocoupler and related feedback circuit, while providing very high adjustment accuracy over a wide AC input range.
• Integrated high-voltage start-up circuit to supply power during power-up, eliminating the need for external field effect transistors (FETs) and related power circuits.
• Can monitor the dimmer status and manage the dimmer load to maintain normal operation through the internal digital core and analog circuits, eliminating the need for external dimmer bleed circuits required by existing solutions on the market.
• Through a unique design method, an efficiency of up to 90%, a power factor higher than 0.95 and a total harmonic distortion lower than 20% are achieved, enabling lighting OEMs and ODM manufacturers to easily exceed the requirements of Energy Star.
• Supports flyback and buck-boost topologies for isolated and non-isolated LED lights.

The piezoelectric transducers (for External Drive) produce exceptional sound output and efficiency all while meeting each customers unique performance requirements. Piezo transducers are constructed without magnets, instead they create sound mechanically via the piezoelectric effect. Our piezo transducers are not equipped with a built in drive circuit. This provides our customers with the flexibility of designing their own circuitry to meet their specific needs.
