Recently, the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) electric pressure cooker safety standards were issued by Midea Group. This is the first international standard developed by the United States. At this point, the pressure cooker of the United States has obtained a permit to go to the international market, and it also indicates that consumers in all countries of the world can use more electric pressure cookers with Chinese independent intellectual property rights.

This release standard is IEC 60335-2-15, the second part of the standard for the safety of household and similar electrical appliances: Particular requirements for liquid heaters. Before the release of this standard, IEC related standards were based on "rigid structure", but the domestic mainstream electric pressure cooker technology represented by Midea was based on "elastic structure". The inapplicability of international standards severely restricted the export of electric pressure cookers.

In 2010, the U.S. joint industry proposed and adopted the electric pressure cooker IEC standard amendment proposal at the Seattle meeting. At the 83 IEC/TC61 Committee Meeting held in Indonesia in 2011, Midea Electric Pressure Cooker Company proposed a total of four proposals (standard for electric pressure cookers, cover safety, pressure relief safety, and blocking prevention safety) on behalf of China. . This year, at the 85th meeting of IEC/TC61 in Berlin, Germany, Midea Group, on behalf of China, once again put forward suggestions for perfecting the standards, and completely separated the elastic structure pressure cooker from the rigid structural pressure cooker, and separately requested in the relevant clauses of the standard to realize the international standard of electric pressure cooker. The final revision. On November 29 this year, the International Electrotechnical Commission headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland officially issued the IEC60335-2-15 (Ed6.0) standard.

The adoption of the draft will promote the special standard approval process for the special requirements of electric pressure cookers by the National Standards Committee, thus filling the gaps in the standard of electric pressure cookers, promoting the normative development of the domestic electric pressure cooker industry, and also making the electric pressure cooker industry, which is in a period of rapid development, For an additional 3 to 5 years, Midea Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. takes this opportunity and expects sales volume to exceed RMB 5 billion within five years.

Ma Dejun, secretary general of the National Household Electrical Appliances Standardization Technical Committee, stated at the IEC/TC61 Berlin conference in 2012 that at present, China’s export of electric pressure cookers accounts for less than 10%, and it can be predicted that after the official implementation of the international standard for electric pressure cookers, it will bring about domestic enterprises. More opportunities, sales may reach 6-7 times or even more.

It is reported that in recent years, foreign countries have set various trade technical barriers against China, and if they lose the standard right to speak, they are faced with a situation of beating losses. Earlier, Japan and Malaysia proposed a proposal to amend the "prevention of falling ceiling fans" safety requirements. Japan requested the installation of "power off switches" and Malaysia requested the installation of "safety ropes." After analyzing with related experts in the United States, adding “power off switch” and “safety rope” has no obvious improvement on the fall prevention of ceiling fans, but it will face the risk of patents. Once this requirement is revised, domestic fan exports will be greatly limited.

In recent years, the United States has actively participated in the revision of international standards, which not only can overcome technical barriers to trade, reduce export costs, and increase the share of exports. At the same time, it has strategic significance for the development of industry technology and the grasp of international cutting-edge technologies.

At present, Midea has obtained approval from the IEC Secretariat and is responsible for leading revisions of IEC standards for electric pressure cookers and ceiling fans. It also participates in the revision of many international standards such as compressors, range hoods, soya-bean milk makers, microwave ovens, and dishwashers.
