Vishay introduces new LEDs with ultra-bright InGan technology

Recently, Vishay announced the launch of a new white, non-scattering 3mm LED, the VLHW4100, which is optimized for high-end applications to meet the extremely high luminous intensity requirements of applications. The VLHW4100 uses ultra-bright InGaN technology with a luminous intensity of 4500mcd to 11250mcd at 20mA.

Today's LEDs are available in an impurity-free, colorless plastic housing and lens with a viewing angle of ±22.5° for high light output and visibility. With its high luminous intensity, the VLHW4100 replaces incandescent lamps and is ready to go deep into a variety of general-purpose and custom applications, including indoor and outdoor lighting, outdoor LED panels, light signs, and instrument and front panel indicators.

The device's thermal resistance is as low as 400K/W and power dissipation is as high as 95mW. The device's half-intensity viewing angle is ±22.5°, which is categorized according to the illuminance, so that the illuminance and color of the devices in each package are consistent. The LED can withstand an ESD voltage of 2kV, is compliant with the JESD22-A114-B specification, and is compliant with RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.

Samples and production quantities of the new VLHW4100 LEDs are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
