Renishaw, the world's leading measurement specialist, has added a new dimension to its wide range of grating products, introducing the new VIONiCTM series of gratings – a new generation of ultra-high precision, ultra-small integrated digital incremental gratings. VIONiC, together with the full range of Renishaw gratings and magnetic grid products, will demonstrate its superior and stable motion control performance at the CIIF Renishaw booth H6.1 – B013 from November 1-5, 2016.
Designed for the world's most demanding motion control applications, VIONiC encoders combine Renishaw's renowned optical filtering system with a new custom subdivision and monitoring ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) to enhance Dynamic signal processing and improved signal stability. With this design, VIONiC is by far the highest performance incremental encoder system.

Designed to reduce overall size while maintaining the system's high performance, the VIONiC Series integrates all necessary subdivision circuitry and digital signal processing within the readhead, eliminating the need for additional external interfaces. VIONiC maintains its leading position in its class in terms of cycle error, jitter and accuracy. Customers can choose between two models of VIONiC readheads. The standard VIONiC readhead has an electronic subdivision error (SDE) of <±30 nm, an effective resolution range of 5 μm to 20 nm, and a speed of over 12 m/s. To meet the most stringent performance requirements, Renishaw also offers the VIONiCplusTM readhead with electronic subdivision error (SDE) <±10 nm, jitter as low as 1.6 nm RMS, and resolution ranging from 100 nm to 2.5 nm. All performance indicators have reached the highest level in the industry. Low electronic subdivision error (SDE) gratings minimize velocity ripple, which is important for constant speed applications such as laser scanning.
VIONiC series gratings provide the same linear and circular gratings as the TONiCTM series of gratings, so existing customers can choose to use VIONiC instead of TONiC, and can use different types of scales, including metal scales and glass. Gauge and circular grating (including ultra-high precision REXM circular grating). All VIONiC series scales offer a user-selectable IN-TRACTM reference zero that is embedded in the incremental track and a double limit switch in the linear scale.

The Advanced Diagnostic Tool (ADT) includes user software for controlling and monitoring the VIONiC setup and calibration routines, making the VIONiC setup and calibration process extremely simple. New software features include enhanced graphical display capabilities, automatic generation of signal strength and position plots, Lissajous graphics, DRO output, and readhead pitch indication. The installation tool features remote, advanced calibration and is ideal for factory line installations.
