Connect the USB Blaster download cable. Power on the SF-CY4 board and open the project in the "...\prj\cy4ex2" directory (double-click cy4.qpf). As shown in Figure 7.18, click the Programmer button in the menu bar to enter the download configuration page.

Enter the download page as shown in Figure 7.19. Confirm that the "Mode" option is "JTAG", confirm that the download file name under the File column is "output_files/cy4.sof", and check "Program/Configure".

Then verify that the Quartus II software recognizes the USB Blaster download line. If it is not recognized, click on “Hardware Setup...†in the upper left corner of Figure 7.19.
As shown in Figure 7.20, in the Hardware Setup page that pops up, select the current hardware as USB Blaster, then close. If there is no USB Blaster option in the current hardware, first make sure that the USB Blaster and PC are connected on the hardware, then try to plug it out multiple times, or restart the Quartus II software.

The previous steps are all determined. As shown in Figure 7.21, you can start the download operation by directly clicking the Start button on the right side. Observe whether the Process in the upper left corner will be from 0 to 100%. After the download is complete, we can hear the buzzer on the SF-CY4 development board making a crisp "drip" sound.

The JTAG mode is mainly to burn the .sof generated by the project compilation into the FPGA. If the power is turned off and the power is turned on after the download is completed, you will see that the code you just downloaded is gone. (Note that if the code of the configuration chip itself is a flashing light, then you will still flash after re-powering. If you want to see if the data downloaded by JTAG online is lost after re-powering, then follow the JTGA later. The procedure for burning the configuration chip burns a code that does not flash, and then does the previous download to see).
