The LT3958 features soft start and frequency foldback to limit inductor current during startup.

The LT3958 is a wide input voltage range, current mode, DC/DC converter that produces positive or negative output voltages. It can be configured as a boost, flyback, SEPIC or negative output converter. It features an internal low-side N-channel power MOSFET that is rated for 84V/3.3A and is driven from an internal 7.2V supply. Its fixed frequency, current mode architecture enables stable operation over a wide range of supply voltages and output voltages.

The LT3958's operating frequency can be set with an external resistor (settable from 100kHz to 1MHz) and can be synchronized to an external clock using the SYNC pin. With a low minimum operating supply voltage (5V) and a low shutdown quiescent current (<1μA), the LT3958 is ideal for battery-powered systems.
